The multi-channel moving image installation was filmed between 2020 and 2022 in the park of the old psychiatric hospital in Pitkäniemi, Nokia, Finland. These trees and the environment played an important role in the hospital activities for 125 years. Trees were planted in memory of people and they provided beauty and shelter for therapy work.

The Trees installation documents lindens, maples, birches and apple trees, portraying the wisdom and personality of the aged plants. It transfers the atmosphere of the old, remoted hospital park to the brand new building in the Tampere University Hospital’s main campus. The new psychiatric hospital building is designed by ARCO Architecture Company.

With its 14 video channels and 4 audio channels Trees one of the biggest public space media art installations in Finland.
